In memory of Don Hall and in
honor of his life’s work, to help the community develop
educational and mental health services, HOPE established the Don
Hall Consumer Education Fund in February, 2002. This fund will
provide financial assistance to consumers that will promote education,
training and enrichment to further their recovery from mental
illness. Donations are welcomed. |
Don was born September 20, 1935 in Cement,
Oklahoma. He was the son of Carl A. and Lilly B. Hall. He attended
Pioneer Schools and later graduated with a degree in Education
from Central State College. He earned both a Masters and Doctorate
Degree from the University of Oklahoma. He began his teaching
career in the Oklahoma City Public School System as a counselor
and administrator. He went on to the University of Oklahoma as
an Administrator in Continuing Education. Later, he helped in
the establishment of HOPE Community Services, Inc. and served
as Executive Director for 20 years. He took great pride in the
services HOPE continuously provided for the Southside of Oklahoma
City. He retired from education while teaching at Central State
University. He remained a Board Member at Metro-Tech Vocational
Services until the time of his death. Don’s life was a continuous
journey to help the community develop educational and mental health
services. In recent years he has enjoyed traveling with his wife,
Phyllis, who survives him along with their children, Cynthia Lacy,
Susan Robertson and Mylissa Hall, all of Oklahoma City. Also surviving
are his mother, Lilly B. Hall, sister, Arlene Bell and grandchildren,
Amy Lacy, Alycia Lacy, Michael Lacy and Caleb Robertson. Don was
surrounded by his family in his home when he peacefully went to
be with the Lord November 17, 2001. His spirit remains strong
with his family and many friends that survive him. |
